Cats, Cats and more Cats!

August 2012

Just back from my July safaris and things have continued as they were in April and May. While we saw so many incredible things over the last six months, the most astounding was the sheer number of cats that we saw! Everywhere we turned it was cats, cats, and more cats!

The Ndutu Marsh pride continues to command their precious territory (the only water for many miles). We watched in awe as a lone, unknown, lioness tried to invade the territory, much to the surprise to the thirteen Marsh Pride lioneses and cubs. Chaos reigned for a few hours before they were able to see him off the property!

Cheetah and cubs were everywhere. There was a mother with four cheetah cubs, another with three cheetah cubs and a mother with fivecheetah cubs!

There were leopards: on the ground, in the trees, even a mating pair of leopards!

And talk about action. Lions grabbing gnus. Cheetah hunting gazelles. It was nonstop action, all set against the background of the glorious Serengeti flowers and dramatic storm clouds. We really could not have asked for more! I could go on and on, but I think I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

Time to book your safaris for next year, and experience some of these moments for yourself!
