Nigel looked long and hard at the lifestyle of people with busy working lives, limited time or insight to research and plan complicated travel experience, yet a desire to make the most of every minute away.
Travel presented a perfect opportunity to discover new experiences; yet where were the operators who spoke to this curiosity to get under the skin of a destination such as the Africa he knew so well?
Sometimes, they reasoned, people don’t know where they want to go – but they do have a sense of how they want to feel. So, defining travel by a need to experience something new or different, as much as by destination, became key to the overall vision. The gap in the market was identified, the scene was set.
Nigel went on to launch Nigel Perks Discovery in 2001 with the aim of building a travel company and brand which exactly reflected the needs, desires and personalities of the potential clients he knew were out there. People were travelling a new way. With us.
